Dog Training Clicker: The Importance of a Dog Training Clicker

Importance of a Dog Training Clicker

The most essential element in a dog training clicker is the training clicker. A training clicker is a small metallic device that you can buy in any pet shops or pet stores all over the globe. It is a small device which releases a "clicking sound" when both sides are pressed together.

In history, clickers were first used by Karen Pryor, a marine mammal trainer as a means of communication with the animals she were training. For example, dolphins and whales, they communicate underwater through the clicks that they hear through echolocation. The clicker makes the trainer generate signals that they could articulate.

In this generation, clickers are used in all kinds of animals but are very common in dog training. Many dog owners are now trying to invest on clickers because they know that is it efficient and effective when it comes to dog training. And of course, results show positive effects on the dogs. Some dogs are considered nuisance in the community, that is why they need to be trained immediately after they are about to grow. Matured dogs are hard to train given that they have already acquired the behavior that they have. In this case, they have acquired both bad and good behaviors and most of the time, most of these behavior leans to the bad.

Though the clicker is just a very small device, it has changed dogs and dog owners a lot. The relationship between the dog and the dog owners depend on the attitude that they both elicit. If the owner is very persistent in training his dog, then most probably, the dog will acquire the good behavior that his owner sought. If this happens, the dog will no longer be regarded as a nuisance in the house or even in the whole community. Many people will also admire the dog and they would also subject their pets to clicker training.

Clicker training also depends on how obedient the dog is. Obedience could be acquired during the obedience training done when the dog is still a puppy. If the dog has good obedience training, he will be able to follow commands responsibly.
